So once again, the lenses I have in mind are the Canon 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro (non-L) and the Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM Macro. Both of these lenses are excellent. I had planned on the Sigma for some time - as it appears to possibly be a bit better optically than the Canon. However I got the Canon L on sale for a lot less than the Sigma. EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro IS Noise Question. Apr 2, 2019. With all the flowers and trees blooming, I got my macro lens out for the first time in a while and attached it to my new EOS R. While it functioned well, the noise of the Image Stabilization was just terrible. Image Quality. Not shocking to anyone is that the 28-year-newer Canon RF 85mm F2 Macro IS STM Lens design produces sharper images than the Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM Lens. In the center of the frame, the RF 85 f/2 is quite sharp wide-open at f/2. At f/2.8, with contrast and resolution increasing slightly, results are razor sharp. The EF-S 60mm Macro uses relatively inexpensive/small 52mm filters. The lens comes with no Lens Hood (I suggest purchasing the ET-67B Lens Hood) and no lens pouch. Excellent sharpness and very good overall image quality in a nice package - the Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens will have many happy owners. The Canon Tripod Mount Ring D is shown above mounted to Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 L IS USM Lens . The 100mm f/2.8 L IS lens does not require this ring to be used on a tripod (the camera body tripod insert can be used), but the centrally-positioned Canon Tripod Mount Ring D provides a better tripod balance - and affords less movement after the tripod Product description from Canon. At launch 1991 Canon wrote this regarding Canon EF 100mm F2 USM : "Despite the large maximum aperture, the lens remains compact. Lens group 5 moves for rear focusing, and sharp, crisp pictures are obtained at all apertures. The background blur is ideal for portraits. The USM autofocuses the lens quickly and quietly." The TTArtisan 100mm f/2.8 Macro 2:1 Tilt-Shift lens is currently made for Nikon Z, Sony E, Canon RF, Fuji X, L Mount, and Micro Four Thirds. However, at the time I’m publishing this review, it is sold out and hard to find in some mounts, especially L Mount and Micro Four Thirds. In terms of the lens’s construction, it’s a pretty heft lens. Description. Canon is stepping up their game with the original EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM Lens. They heard the call for a new EF medium telephoto lens with an extremely large f/2.8L aperture and the 100mm is it! The large aperture allows for crisp, clear foregrounds and beautifully blurred backgrounds. The 100mm offers not only Canon's trusty 1D2ux.
