Easiest way out is another M43B19 engine, put it in and sell the car and get another with better engine. 316i and 318i (prefacelift) have same M43B19 engine, differences are disa valve, camshaft and ecu program. So if you get engine from 316i, you can use it, just take needed parts from your 318i and you're good.
